Economic calendar

Most news-policy breaches are accidents. A position held through a release, a stop filled inside a restricted window, a trade opened five minutes too early — none of them feel like rule breaking at the time. This calendar exists so the windows are visible before you are in one.

How news rules actually work

The window is usually two-sided

A typical policy blocks execution for a few minutes either side of a release. Being flat before it opens is the only reliable way to stay clear, because you do not control when a stop fills.

A stop-loss fill is still execution

This is the detail that catches people. A position opened an hour earlier whose stop triggers inside the window can still count. If your firm's wording is ambiguous, ask and keep the reply.

The penalty varies more than the rule

Some firms void the trade, some void the profit from it, some breach the account outright. The rule text matters less than what happens when you break it.

Futures and Forex differ

Futures firms often restrict around the same US releases but express the rule against exchange hours rather than a currency. The events overlap; the wording does not.

Rex records each firm’s news-trading permission on its own page, and the rules vocabulary explains what the common wordings mean.

Questions

Why is this a preview module?
Because an economic calendar is live data and no feed is attached. The filtering, grouping and impact model are the real product.
Why UTC rather than my timezone?
Because firm policies are written against a published schedule. Converting to a local clock is exactly where an off-by-one hour causes a breach.
Does every firm restrict news trading?
No. Several publish no restriction at all, and Rex records that as published rather than assuming a rule exists.
